Stay Healthy with Cleaner Air.
Not all filters are created equally. You want to look for the MERV (Minimum Efficiency Reporting Values) rating. The higher the MERV rating, the better the filter’s capacity to seize air pollutants which will help improve the air quality in your home. We recommend a MERV rating of at least 8-10. If your air filter has excessive dust, dirt, and allergens, blocking the air flow, it will be unable to appropriately filter. A proper air filter will help keep you healthier by reducing allergens in the air.
High quality HVAC filters can diminish the possibility of catching airborne viruses and bacteria. By adding a few drops of antibacterial and/or antimicrobial essential oil or blend of oils to the fabric of the filter, you can add a little more protection while also making your home smell good. There are several essential oils that have antibacterial, antimicrobial, or antifungal properties. Some of them even have a combination of these immune boosting properties. Do your own research on your favorites, but a few of them include Lavender, Cedarwood, Peppermint, Tea Tree, Eucalyptus, Lemongrass, and Lemon Essential Oils
Set up reminders on your calendar to change your air filters either every month or every 3 months. How often you need to change air filters in your home is dependent upon the quality and type of filter you choose. Good quality air filters do cost a little more. However, they are worth the extra cost because you don’t have to change them as often and they capture more dirt, dust and allergens which will help you breathe cleaner air.
